Nipsey Hussle - Best Thang Smokin'!!! Interview!!!

nipsey Pictures, Images and Photos

I keep saying this and I’m going to say it again. Something is happening in the West Coast. The pot is on the stove. The water is warming up and it’s getting ready to boil over. Artists like Jay Rock, Tyga, G. Malone, Crooked I and more are slowly building a West Coast syndicate that has enough talent to take over the game and return Cali to it’s most prosperous level in years, maybe even as successful as the days of the Chronic.

One of the latest artists to step into the mix is South Central’s own Nipsey Hussle. Signed to Jon Shapiro’s Cinematic Music Group, Nipsey is a street tested MC with enough swagger to appeal to audiences in any part of the world. His songwriting abilities are compared to that of 50 Cent. His swag is compared to that of Snoop Dogg but don’t get it twisted, Nipsey is his own artist.
Cali’s hip-hop poster boy The Game calls Nipsey the hottest artist coming out of Cali. While it may seem like a lot for a new artist to handle Nipsey Hussle welcomes the challenges that lie ahead of him. HMF.com caught up with the Cali spitter to discuss working with The Game, getting love from Power 106, and his plans for his career.

HMF.Com: All right Nipsey I know you grew up in Cali. Give us a little background. What was life like for you growing up?

Nipsey Hussle: Um, you know I grew up on 60th street on the West Side, South Central. That’s Crenshaw and Slauson. My life was better than some and worse than others. I’m not gonna give you the usual young niggas in the hood sad story, you feel me? I grew up in the hood you know and I was held down by a gang called the Rolling 60’s. Growing up in that territory had a big influence on me. I experienced a lot of shit as a young nigga. I seen a lot of shit so for better or worse my shit was just hood.

HMF.Com: Now through all this at what point did you get into hip-hop?

Nipsey Hussle: Man I been on this shit since day one. I’m not the nigga to say that I’m not a rapper. I’m most definitely a rapper and I been pursuing this shit since day one, you feel me? I would be in school spittin’. I was supposed to be doing schoolwork but I was writing rhymes, spittin’ in the hallways. You know how that goes. I could honestly say I been doin’ this shit since I was about seven.

HMF.Com: I spoke to The Game a few months back and he said you were hands down the hottest cat coming out of the West Coast. How do you feel to get a co-sign like that?

Nipsey Hussle: That’s incredible and I appreciate that because his word and what he thinks mean a lot. It’s a hell of a compliment. It is what it is.

HMF.Com: You guys also worked together. What was that experience like for you?

Nipsey Hussle: Game is crazy with his shit man. I been a game fan for a minute and the way he works I crazy. We got in the booth and we knocked out some shit in like fifteen minutes, you know? It was real cool. From the first day Game and me met it was all love my nigga. We met and we clicked you know? We got in the studio because I’m always in the studio and we was just vibin’ off each other shit and we came out with some hot shit man, you feel me?

HMF.Com: How did you end up getting your deal with Jon Shapiro and Cinematic?

Nipsey Hussle: Basically I was just grindin’ hard and puttin’ crazy shit out in the street. Shapiro heard some shit and we started talking. It was the same kinda situation I had with Game where we just clicked quick from jump, you feel me? He heard another joint on Myspace and I got flown out to New York. After that it was on and poppin’ you know?

HMF.Com: So your buzz was already poppin in the streets?

Nipsey Hussle: Yeah well you know I was putting that shit out in the street so a nigga had a little buzz going. I had a couple records out as well that was poppin’ out here on Power 106 so I was getting’ some love like that, you feel me? Jon and me got up to do the paperwork and he made me an offer I couldn’t refuse so we got it done.

HMF.Com: Was it a big transition going from the streets to head first into the industry?

Nipsey Hussle: Oh yeah this is real different. The streets is the streets and the industry is something else. You gotta learn how to navigate through it so I’m just soaking everything up as I go along. I’m learning a lot because this is a whole different thing for me, you know?

HMF.Com: Your songwriting abilities are compared to some of the most talented dudes out there like 50 and Snoop. Where did that talent come from?

Hussle: I mean honestly I think it come from hard work and doing it so much. You know how they say that practice makes perfect. When I hear a beat a whole bunch of shit goes through my mind. And the main thing I’m thinking about is how I could approach it so it grabs the most amount of people. There are a lot of artists who can spit a verse but they can’t write a song or they write a song that’s trash, it’s disposable, you feel me? My goal is to make the exact opposite of that. I’m trying to make music that lasts. You gotta make sure your content is right. I’m trying to do it like Tupac so that’s what I mean when I talk about content in the music.

HMF.Com: How do you feel about the music coming from the West Coast right now?

Nipsey Hussle: I’m lovin’ it my nigga. I feel like this is a fresh start for us, you feel me? I feel like we got a chance to just do what we gotta do and make more history.

HMF.Com: Who are some newer artists you’re feeling that are coming out of the West Coast?

Nipsey Hussle: Man there’s too many niggas out here to name that’s really doing their thing man. We got a lot of talent out here for real man. I’m supporting any nigga out here who’s doing him, making good music, and keepin’ it real in the music, you feel me? We got some major talent about to pop and I love to see it. It’s a beautiful thing.

HMF.Com: A lot of successful artists from the West came into the game with that Dre or Snoop co-sign. Do you think that coming into the game without that puts you in a different category?

Nipsey Hussle: I mean it’s a little different but I got my own movement my nigga. I think both of them cats are incredible but I’m doing my thing. I hope I get to work with them in the future. I’m just looking forward to having a successful career, you know?

HMF.Com: Do you feel like you are going to bring a lot of attention back to the West Coast?

Nipsey Hussle: I think I’m definitely gonna bring attention back to the West but not even just the West but hip-hop in general. I feel like I’m about to do some real big things that are gonna made a serious impact on this game.

HMF.Com: Who are some of the artists that have influenced you musically?

Nipsey Hussle: Tupac, Jay-Z, Nas, Biggie. There’s a few cats that I listen to and get inspired by my nigga.

HMF.Com: All right man so tell us what you have coming up that we can check for.

Nipsey Hussle: I’m hitting the mixtapes hard. We got some songs in rotation on the radio. My company is up and runnin’, All Money In, No Money Out. We makin’ some big moves my nigga.

HMF.Com: Anything you’d like to say to all the fans out there?

Nipsey Hussle: Much love to Sixshot.com for reaching out. Ya’ll can check me out at www.myspace.com/mipseyhussle. I wanna thank everybody for all that support they’re showing right now. Peace my nigga.

Nas was busted on a DUI rap and later released, according to information that recently surfaced online.
The rapper and his brother, nicknamed "Jungle," were both arrested on September 10 after a routine safety check in Georgia when police smelled marijuana inside the rapper's Cadillac Escalade truck.

According to the police report obtained by MTV News, Nas was pulled over near the I-75 exit ramp in Stockbridge, Georgia, at aproximately 2:30 p.m. Police were conducting license checks when officers approached Nas' vehicle. The odor of marijuana coming from Nas' car led police to ask the rapper to exit his car.

Uniformed officers then asked Nas to participate in four separate sobriety tests. The report characterized Nas as having "droopy" eyes and being unable to fully complete several tasks, including standing on one leg.

The arresting officer described Nas at the time as having "redding of the conjunctiva in both eyes, rebound dilation in both eyes, a green tongue with raised taste buds, and his pulse was raised to 116 beats per minute."

The rapper was taken to the nearby Henry County police station, where he was charged with one count of driving under the influence and released. Information in the report states that Nas admitted to smoking marijuana two hours prior to being pulled over. His brother, whose real name is Jabari Jones, was also arrested and police seized one plastic bag of marijuana belonging to him.

Nas is scheduled to appear in court to answer to the charges at a future date.
He's also embroiled in a legal struggle with his estranged wife, R&B singer Kelis. The two are in the midst of a divorce and custody battle over their son. Kelis was granted temporary spousal and child support while the pair continue to resolve the matter in court.

Memphis rapper Gangsta Boo, a former member of the Three 6 Mafia camp now with the Drum Squad, is denying involvement in the July robbery of a dollar store in Olive Branch.

The 30-year-old rapper, whose real name is Lola Chantrelle Mitchell, was one of two suspects taken into custody this week in the July 23 armed robbery of a Dollar General Store, Olive Branch police said. She was charged with conspiracy to commit the crime of armed robbery.

Marcus Curtis, 30, of Memphis, was extradited from the Shelby County Jail to Olive Branch, where he is being held on $100,000 bond on armed robbery charges.

Boo proclaimed her innocence on Thursday on her Twitter page, where she also retweeted dozens of messages of support from friends and fans.

Police Maj. Tim Presley would not elaborate on Mitchell's role, and would only say an investigation led to the suspects.

The pair are accused in the holdup that occurred about 9 p.m. at 10956 Nichols. A man armed with a revolver ordered clerks there to help him bag money and then he demanded they lie down while he fled the store.

Several bouncers from Jay-Z's 40/40 Club in Atlantic City, N.J. have gotten the boot for their part in a melee with club patrons.

The brawl, which was caught on tape by witnesses, happened outside the popular Atlantic Avenue hot spot in the early morning hours of Nov. 28.
In the video, two club goers are repeatedly pummeled by as many as 13 staffers in a rear parking lot. The victims were then arrested for disorderly conduct.

The men -- Tyrell Durant, 26, and Leonard Clark, 25 -- said they were beaten without cause. The 40/40 Club offered little comment on the attack, claiming the incident was provoked after Durant struck a bouncer.

Despite their justification, several bouncers involved were given the pink slip Thursday, says a former member of the security staff.
The bouncer -- who asked to remain anonymous -- told NBCPhiladelphia that he and several other members of his team were let go because of the incident.

The club's former security supervisor also confirmed the bloodletting with gossip blog TMZ. "We were initially all suspended and then fired for misconduct," Couri Glenn told the web site.
No word on if the charges will be dropped against the patrons. Requests for comment from the club's publicist were not returned.

FREEDOM!!!! RAPPER T.I MAYBE MOVING TO A HALFWAY HOUSE BY NEW YEARS!!!!

tip Pictures, Images and Photos

Atlanta rap star T.I. is expected to be moved to a halfway house shortly after the first of the year as he nears the end of his federal prison sentence for illegal firearms possession and for possessing a gun as a convicted felon, officials confirmed Tuesday.
T.I., whose real name is Clifford Harris Jr., began serving his sentence of a year and a day at a low-security prison in Arkansas last May. He is expected to be released from Bureau of Prisons custody on March 23, after serving 85 percent of his sentence.
Bureau of Prisons spokesman Edmond Ross said it was customary for an inmate to transition from prison to freedom via a halfway house if there is no danger to the community and if there is space at a facility near where he is to live after his prison time.
Usually that process begins when there are 18 months remaining on a sentence, “but in this case it would have to start sooner. It’s not uncommon for inmates to be placed in community corrections for the last portion of their confinement to help with his transition.”
Harris also could spend the final month of his sentenced confined to his house, Ross said.
Harris pleaded guilty in 2008 to possessing two silencers, three machine guns, a rifle and six handguns. In total, federal officers found 24 handguns, machine guns and rifles in Harris' Range Rover and hree machine guns at his house in College Park.
Harris -- convicted Cobb County in 1998 for possessing cocaine with intent to distribute -- he also pleaded guilty to possession of a firearms by a felon.
Federal agents targeted Harris in 2007 after they arrested his body guard, who bought guns from undercover agents. He said the three machine guns and two silencers were for Harris.
Shortly after the bodyguard arrest, Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms agents arrested T.I. when he took delivery of the weapons from the bodyguard. The arrest took place just hours before, and blocks away from where Harris was to receive two awards at the 2007 BET Hip-Hop Awards in Atlanta.
As part of his plea deal, Harris agreed to spend 1,500 hours talking to at-risk children and teens; including 1,000 due before prison. After he is released, Harris has a year on house arrest and two more on probation. The government fined him $100,000.

Reggae Star Buju Banton Held By Police On Drug Charges, DEA Confirms Arrest

buju banton Pictures, Images and Photos

reggae star Buju Banton is facing a drug charge in Florida. Banton, whose real name is Mark Anthony Myrie, has been in U.S. federal custody in Miami since Thursday. Drug Enforcement Administration spokesman David Melenkevitz said Sunday that Banton was arrested on a charge of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute more than five kilograms of cocaine. The charge stems from a DEA case in Tampa. (Associated Press)
The Jamaican dancehall star Buju Banton has a long-standing reputation for inciting anti-gay sentiment (his 1992 single "Boom Bye Bye" proposes pouring acid on homosexuals and shooting them in the head with an Uzi, among other things; in 2004, he was tried and acquitted on charges that he participated in the beating of six gay men). (Entertainment Weekly)
"Banton's anti-gay lyrics and the climate of hatred they create are a threat to the safety of gay and transgender people everywhere," said GLAAD President Jarrett Barrios. "It is deeply disappointing that The Recording Academy would choose to laud the work of a singer who has advocated violence against the gay community." (Pink Paper News)
Buju Banton was one of the most popular dancehall reggae artists of the '90s. Debuting with a series of popular "slack" singles, which drew criticism for their graphic sexuality and homophobia, Banton converted to Rastafarianism and revolutionized dancehall by employing the live instrumentation and social consciousness of classic roots reggae. TIGER WOODS WIRES REGULAR PAYMENTS TO GIRLFRIENDS!

Despite claims that Tiger Woods was cheap when it came to spending money on the women with whom he had relationships, some did benefit financially and continue to do so.
According to several women who were involved with the golfer, Woods wired money to them on a monthly basis. The dollar amounts they cite range from $5,000 to $10,000 per month, and there’s talk among those women that someone out there might be getting as much as $20,000 per month.
“The money comes via a wire transfer,” said one woman. “There’s no contract about it, there’s no discussion about what it’s for, but it’s implied that it’s in exchange for keeping quiet about his affair.”
